New Exhibition by Blue and Joy

  • Nov 21, 2012
On December 1st, Urban Spree Gallery is proud to host Berlin's first solo show of contemporary artists Blue and Joy. Blue and Joy is an Italian-born, Berlin-based contemporary art duo made of Fabio La Fauci (Milan 1977) and Daniele Sigalot (Rome 1976). The artistic project was born in 2005 and since then, the duo has been challenging the codes of contemporary art through their doppelgänger characters Blue and Joy. Using various techniques such as mosaic, aluminum, video, drawing and painting, their abstract or figurative installations are always stunning and challenging (aluminum paper planes, Freedom Tower Museum, Miami, 2011). Titled "The Superficial Essence of a Deep Appearance", Blue and Joy's new solo show at Urban Spree will consist of 3 huge canvases made of modular mosaics, the latest evolution of a technique that the La Fauci and Sigalot have began to explore since their debut exhibition 8 years ago. "The Superficial Essence of a Deep Appearance" is a massive body of works made of method, irony, precision, lightness, seriousness and many doubts. As part of the exhibition, Blue and Joy will paint a huge mural on Urban Spree's Artist Wall off Warschauer Str. As well, the Italian duo will be a releasing a special series of hand-pulled screenprints made in collaboration with Urban Spree's resident Dolly Demoratti (Mother Drucker), including a very special release. As part of our new shop opening, Blue and Joy will also run a pop up corner with self-made objects and goodies. Urban Spree Gallery Revaler Str. 99 @RAW Warschauer Str. x Revaler Str. Warschauer Str.
