About the Concert
With their dreamy sound between indie rock and post-punk, The Rills from England have long since conquered the internet. The band from England made their breakthrough during the pandemic via TikTok; there they currently have more than 5.7 million likes and have published videos that have been viewed millions of times. After the success of their 2020 single "Angler" (4.5 million streams on Spotify), it was the track "Bones" (3.6 million streams) that made The Rills go viral several times and triggered a huge hype even before the official release in October 2023. The Rills were listed as an "essential emerging artist" on the NME 100 in 2022 and were able to look forward to a large following, real fans and sold-out shows in their home country. After the release of several singles and two EPs, the trio will go on a European tour in early 2025 with their debut album "Don't Be A Stranger" (2024). The Rills will also be performing in Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg in March on the Don't Be A Stranger Tour.
The story of The Rills began in 2017 in Sheffield, where childhood friends Mitch Spencer (guitar & vocals) and Callum Warner-Webb (bass) moved from their hometown of Lincoln with Charlie Weight (guitar) and lived together for six months. During the six months, the trio wrote their first demos and played their first concerts. After a short time back in their homeland, the three musicians moved to London to study, where they met drummer Mason Cassar, who became part of the band after just a week and performed with them in London. Influenced by bands such as The Libertines, IDLES, Fontaines DC, but also the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, their debut single "Pyro" quickly emerged, which now has more than 2.2 million streams on Spotify and reveals a typically British rock sound. Following the single "Us & Them" in 2018, the song "Angler" was released in 2020, which became the band's most successful track with its punk-influenced sound. In the same year, guitarist Charlie Weight left, after which The Rills continued as a trio and released their single "Stardog". After viral TikTok videos during the COVID-19 pandemic, the debut EP "Do It Differently" was released in 2022 via Nice Swan Records, who signed The Rills. The four-track EP "After Taste" was released in 2023, followed by the hit single "Bones" and other songs that pointed to the highly anticipated release of their debut album in 2024, which was released on November 1, 2024. "Don't Be A Stranger" was produced by Dave McCracken (Ian Brown, dEUS, The Rifles) and celebrated by fans and press alike for its varied indie rock sound.
