About the Concert
Unknown Precept dusts off its machines and hits the road to present the grotesque and damaged goods for which the taciturn label has become well known for. Expect an evening of mutated and flawed techno, lo-fi machine disciplines and intricate, modern hypnobeat; bringing together some of the most interesting and forward thinking talents of the moment, namely Maoupa Mazzocchetti, Nick Klein, Profligate and Miguel Alvariño to expose their inflexible live performances throughout the night — rushing in an unexpected pummeling noise techno session where shunting industrial sounds and pneumatic electro rhythms collide in a vigorous tussle.

▲ MAOUPA MAZZOCCHETTI (BE, Brussels) → Live
Florent Mazzocchetti debuted last year on Unknown Precept with some cryptic dispatch from the brink of hardwave and minimal electronics, showing the Brussels-based producer experimenting with thick quakes, paranoid tones and caustic drum machine welts. Call it what you will, Maoupa's vicious industrial terror for when the dance-floor turns ugly gives sex-appeal to discomfort; be prepared to get carried away by his relentless, salty writhing aesthetic of bubbling jakbeat and hench industrial swagger.

▲ NICK KLEIN (US, Brooklyn) → Live
Following various releases — including an excellent tape on Boston’s electronic label Private Archive — noise aficionado and head of the Primitive Languages imprint Nick Klein stood out a few months ago with a deafening vinyl debut for Unknown Precept. Touted as « techno’s top bachelor of the year » by Tiny Mix Tapes, the Brooklyn-based artist specializes in hard-baked and fetid slow techno gauntlets, exploring soiled theatrics and rusty progressions that prompts primal action on the ‘floor.

▲ PROFLIGATE (US, Philadelphia) → Live
Building on the snotty cyber-punk vibes of his two releases for Not Not Fun, Philadelphia’s Noah Anthony — member of the wrenching experimental outfits Form a Log and Social Junk — hustled the common codes to sketch new ones along his first release for Unknown Precept. Jumping from jerky filtered beat driven tunes to more hostile squeaky pieces, Anthony highlights the clash between convulsive rhythms and spasmodic sounds, hammering and twisting the tempo throughout unforgiving techno grooves.

▲ MIGUEL ALVARIÑO (US, Brooklyn) → Live
NYC-based Miguel Alvariño and Primitive Languages label co-operator made his vinyl debut on Hot Releases a few months ago and remains loyal to the loud, fast and aggressive ethos of the noise punk continuum. Exploring thick quakes, paranoid tones and caustic drum machine welts, Alvariño makes beats for headbangers, not ravers, and his live sets bring pure muscularity — as the rhythm lunges and flails as though it were the undiluted expression of the producers’s own tortured nervous system.
