Times of crises usually foster seismic shifts in art. Showcasing a generation of Spanish artists born within the late 80s to mid 90s who have been building themselves on the rubble of the Financial Crisis of 2008 and in reaction to it, "La Quimera armada en llamas" is a multi-faceted beast reset in offensive mode, empowered by the failure of a system and its cohort of injustice, ecological decadence and privileges. It is at the forefront of a generational shift into values and social justice.
Curated by Urban Spree's resident artist Dafne Tree, this panorama invites 11 artists, mostly from Southern Spain:

"In the sixth book of the Aeneid "the flame-armed Chimera" reappears; the commentator Servius Honoratus noted that, according to all authorities, the monster originated in Lycia and that in that region there is a volcano named after him. The base is infested with serpents, on the slopes are meadows and goats, the summit exhales flames, and lions have their lair there; the Chimera would be a metaphor for this curious elevation. Earlier, Plutarch had suggested that Chimera was the name of a captain with piratical affections, who had a lion, a goat and a snake painted on his ship."
Jorge Luis Borges - El libro de los seres imaginarios (The book of imaginary beings)
