The serie was printed on the occasion of an exhibition held by Palefroi (Marion Jdanoff and Damien Tran) in Marseille.

SOUPES is, at first, a rudimentary animated movie depicting a small and slightly weird restaurant.
For the exhibition, the artistic duo Palefroi expanded the idea, giving form to an actual dining room. They opened the exhibition 3 times as an actual canteen trading questions for soup.

About the artists

Palefroi is Damien Tran and Marion Jdanoff. They met in Berlin in 2011 and discovered that they shared the same drive and energy for screen printing. Multiplying projects together, they decided to formalise their collaboration in 2013 by creating Palefroi, a framework that encompasses all their practices, self-publishing books and prints in particular. Palefroi is also the name they use to sign all their pieces as a duo. Tran and Jdanoff are constantly moving back and forth between their individual and collective work. Their language as a duo is at the crossroads of their respective worlds. One is formal and abstract, the other narrative and figurative. Over the years, the boundaries between their personal and collective work have become increasingly porous.
